Independence Square is one of the beautiful places in Colombo. Independence Memorial Hall is located in the Independence Square at Colombo 7. This place is known as Torrington Square in early days. This Hall was built for the commemoration of the independence from British in 1948. Viharamahadevi Park,
Viharamahadevi Park (formerly Victoria Park) is a public park located in Cinnamon Gardens, Colombo,
the park is named after Queen Viharamahadevi, the mother of King Dutugamunu. The park was built on land donated to the Colombo city by Charles Henry de Soysa during the British rule of Sri Lanka, and used to be named "Victoria Park" after Queen Victoria. During World War II it was occupied by the British Army with Australian 17th Brigade based at Victoria Park. After the war the park was restored and open to the public in 1951. And is the oldest and largest park of Colombo.

Galle Face Green,
Galle Face Green is a favorite place for families, children, lovers and picnickers. While the hot sun makes carrying around an umbrella a must and the crows are a nuisance, it is still a beautiful place to relax, enjoy the beach. A nice stretch of beach front to walk along. Galle Face is a 5 ha ocean-side urban park, which stretches for 500 m along the coast, in the heart of Colombo, the financial and business capital of Sri Lanka.
Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque Colombo,
Known as the Red Mosque, located in a busy town called Pettah its proper name is the Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque. Enclosed by other buildings on its two sides, it soars upwards. Its red and white stripes. The Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque was built in 1908 in Pettah to cater to the growing need for a large place for religious repose. The mosque had approximately two floors (unsure of the exact amount as renovations were done later, and the locals in the know-how refuse to speak much about its history) at the time; which were supported by four massive teak tree columns that pass through the two lower floors.
Colombo Fort Railway Station,
This is the main railway station situated in the heart of Colombo. The building was built and put into operation in 1908.
